The Tamar River offers some of the best sailing in the North. Since 1837, Tamar Yacht Club has provided members with the best competition, social, on-water and clubhouse facilities in Northern Tasmania. As the oldest yacht club in the Southern Hemisphere, members enjoy the benefits of the resources and advantages that only a long-established club can provide. Experienced sailors have the opportunity to skipper or crew, from dinghies to ocean racers. Novices have opportunities to learn, and gain recognised qualifications on all sizes of boats. Friends, supporters and retired sailors can enjoy the great social atmosphere at either the Launceston or Beauty Point clubhouses. You do not need to own a boat, or even have sailed previously.
