GRAMMAR OFFERS A CONTEMPORARY AND INTERESTING RANGE OF ACADEMIC SUBJECTS DESIGNED TO CAPTURE A STUDENT’S CURIOSITY AND DEVELOP A LIFELONG LOVE OF LEARNING.
Founded in 1846, Grammar is the oldest continuously operating Anglican co-educational day and boarding school in Australia and has a distinguished reputation for providing outstanding education in Tasmania.
Grammar has a close and enduring relationship with the Anglican Church in Tasmania and has since our beginning in 1846. This relationship has helped us define our core values and plays an integral part within the school and will continue to into our future.
Grammar has a well-respected international programme to encourage students from around the world to study at our school.
We have had the pleasure of educating students from a wide range of countries including Columbia, India, Russia, Germany, England, Costa Rica, Fiji, South Korea, Japan, Iceland, China, Thailand, Austria, Belgium, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia, to name a few.
Many of these students join Grammar’s boarding community with the advantages of broadening their horizons through the experience of a new culture. As the largest boarding house in Tasmania, we have accommodation for up to 100 boarding students.
Our school provides boarding places for students from Grades 5 to 12. There are separate buildings for boys and girls, with common facilities for recreation and dining. Grammar offers families a school where brothers and sisters can live and learn together as boarders.
Grammar offers a contemporary and interesting range of academic subjects, designed to capture a student’s curiosity and develop a lifelong love of learning. A strong academic programme, which includes English as a Second Language (ESL), is offered to international students from Grade 5 through to Grade 12. ESL is taught at each student’s level of need and we go to great lengths to assist them in understanding the cultures and values of Australian society.
Grammar offers a wide range of scholarships designed to encourage students with strong academic ability or talents in co-curricular activities to enter the School. The range of scholarships offered has enabled many students to successfully complete their education and proceed to university or further studies.
