The students of Launceston come from a diverse range of cultures, languages and social backgrounds, and each have their own passions and purposes here in Tasmania. It can be difficult to get an idea of what it may be like studying in a different state, let alone another country. Below is an opportunity to learn about some of the University of Tasmania students’ experiences and what Launceston has to offer.

 

ELISABETH WIDJOJO – PhD student Elisabeth Widjojo believes that Launceston is the best place possible to recharge after a day of study.

HANNAH BISHOP – When Hannah Bishop moved from Queensland to Launceston, she found it a bit chillier than her home state. But the fantastic community atmosphere at the Inveresk University of Tasmania campus warmed her right up.

LISA GRANGER – Lisa is part of the first intake of the University of Tasmania’s newAssociate Degree in Applied Business, launched in 2017.

MIA KEALY – Mia is studying a Bachelor of Architecture and Built Environments degree at UTAS. She chose to move from New South Wales for lifestyle and economic reasons.

RAQUEL ANDREWS – Studying a Masters in Dietetics, Raquel has always been interested in nutrition – even since she was a little girl.

SAM SMITH – Sam is studying his PhD at the University of Tasmania’s Australian Maritime College, and he’s loving the experience.

STEPHANIE MANNING – Teacher and University of Tasmania graduate, Stephanie Manning, chose to study a Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree because she has always had a passion for learning.
